Canadian Work Permit Programs in 2023:

The Canadian Work Permit Visa, with or without Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), allows eligible professionals, like business people/permanent & temporary employees, to work in Canada after having a valid job offer in their hand. However, in some cases, the employment offers in hand when applying for a Canada work permit are not mandatory.

Interested applicants have two options to apply for a Canadian work permit as per their needs and job, like;

1# Employer-Specific Work Permit for Canada:

That kind of work permit allows overseas professionals to work for only one specific employer who has offered the job. Moreover, the employees will be limited to the conditions mentioned on the Employer-specific work permit, including; the employer they can work for, duration, and location where they are allowed to work.

On the other hand, while applying for the Employer-Specific Work Permit, the employer must have given you a copy of the employment contract & an LMIA with the employment offer number.

2# Canada Open Work Permit Application Process:

The second type is the Open Work Permit with the no-specific job. Foreign workers applying for an open work permit in Canada do not need a job offer from any Canadian employer. In the same way, an LMIA copy or an employment offer number is also not required in this type of permit.

Eligibility Requirements for Canadian Work Visa:

Application Procedure for Canada Work Permit VISA:

The application process to get a Canadian Work permit differs based on the type of permit you are applying for. Generally, it is a two-step process where a few cases need a Labor Market Impact Assessment. The LMIA is a document obtained by the employer via Employment & Social Development Canada (ESDC) before hiring any international professional for a specific job.

For Employer-Specific Work Permit, the employer will first get the LMIA from ESDC. Once the positive LMIA has been granted, it is time for the employee to apply for a work permit with the required documents and an application fee of CAD 155 / person.

However, if you are applying for an Open Work Permit, all you need is to choose the type of work permit in the application form. Also, pay all the application fees of a work permit, including the Open work permit fee of CAD 155 and the Open work permit holder fee of CAD$100. Then, submit your application with a complete set of documents as a worker, sponsored spouse, or common-law partner already living in Canada.
