University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) 2026 for International Students

About the UTS Scholarship
The University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) provides financial support to exceptional international students enrolling in a graduate (MSc) programme at UT. The scholarship is not a full scholarship but offers significant financial assistance to cover academic and living costs during the study period.
- Scholarship Value: €3,000 – €22,000 for one academic year.
- Two-Year Programmes: Students enrolled in a two-year master’s programme can receive an additional amount equal to the first year, provided they meet academic progress requirements:
- Minimum average grade of 7/10 by the end of the third quartile.
- Completion of at least 50% of ECTS credits by the same period.
Additional Opportunity: Kipaji Scholarship
Applicants who qualify for the UTS are also eligible to apply for the Kipaji Scholarship, which provides extra financial support to promising students from developing countries. Interested candidates must first apply for the UTS and indicate their interest in the Kipaji Scholarship in their motivation statement.
Eligible Master’s Programmes
The UTS covers a wide range of Master’s programmes including:
Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Business Administration, Civil Engineering & Management, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Environmental & Energy Management, European Studies, Industrial Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nanotechnology, Psychology, Robotics, Sustainable Energy Technology, and many others.
However, the scholarship does not apply to programmes under the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) or pre-Master programmes.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the UTS 2026:
- You must be a non-EU/EEA student.
- You must have (conditional) admission to a qualifying Master’s programme at UT starting in September 2026.
- You must not have graduated from a UT undergraduate or graduate programme.
- You must meet the English language requirement: IELTS 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in speaking) or TOEFL iBT 90 (minimum 20 in speaking).
- You must not be eligible for a Dutch study loan or pay statutory tuition fees.
- You must belong to the top 5–10% of your graduating class academically.
Please note: Candidates must demonstrate the financial means to cover remaining study and living costs, as the scholarship only partially covers expenses.
Application Timeline
The University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) 2026 follows a two-round application process. The first round will open on 15 October 2025 at 09:00 CET and close on 1 February 2026 at 16:00 CET.
The second round will then open on 1 February 2026 at 16:00 CET and close on 1 May 2026 at 16:00 CET. Applicants should note that if their application is rejected in Round 1, they cannot reapply in Round 2 for the same academic year.
