Poland AI Engineering Scholarships 2027 at Jagiellonian University for International Students

If you are currently studying Computer Science or a closely related subject and want hands-on research experience in Explainable Artificial Intelligence, deep learning and drug discovery, I would seriously consider this Jagiellonian University opportunity.

The scholarship is attached to the project “Interpretable and Interactive Multimodal Retrieval in the Drug Discovery Process” and offers PLN 2,500 net per month for 12 months.

Who Can Apply?

This position is unusual because you do not need to have completed a Master’s degree.

You can apply if you are currently enrolled in a first-cycle Bachelor’s programme, second-cycle Master’s programme, or long-cycle Master’s programme in Computer Science or a similar field.

The strongest applicants should already be comfortable programming in Python and understand basic concepts in information retrieval.

The call also requires fluent spoken and written English, but it does not specify IELTS, TOEFL or another minimum test score.

What Will You Actually Work On?

This is not a generic AI scholarship.

The research asks how interpretable and interactive machine-learning systems can help make the drug-discovery process faster and more efficient.

You may work on deep-learning models for microscopy images, investigate foundational models, develop new training methods and interpretable AI approaches, analyse results and prepare scientific publications.

There is also an expectation that the successful student may present research at international conferences.

For a student interested in AI research, this is valuable because you are not simply learning machine learning in class—you are applying it to a real scientific problem.

What Skills Will Make Your Application Stronger?

If I were applying, I would make three things very visible in my CV:

Python projects, machine-learning/deep-learning experience, and any work involving computer vision, microscopy images or information retrieval.

You do not necessarily need to have published research already, but evidence that you can build, test and analyse computational models will make your application much more convincing.
